FWPS Celebrates AANHPI Heritage Month

May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, a meaningful time for our district and schools to honor the rich histories, vibrant cultures, and countless contributions of AANHPI communities.

According to the Washington State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs, individuals from approximately 42 nations across Asia and the Pacific Islands call Federal Way home. This incredible diversity is a cornerstone of what makes our district one of the most inclusive and dynamic in Washington.

At Federal Way Public Schools, we are committed to creating learning environments where every student feels seen, valued, and connected. We celebrate the cultural heritage of our students and families not just during May, but throughout the year weaving it into our classrooms, events, and curriculum.

Throughout the month, our schools will recognize AANHPI heritage through engaging assemblies, student-led art projects, musical performances, and more. We look forward to sharing these celebrations as we continue to uplift the voices and stories that shape our community, so be sure to email photos to socialmedia@fwps.org.
