Congratulations to the 31 scholars from Lakeland Elementary who participated in the Washington State Spring Fair's Creative Kids Art Competition! Each year, the fair provides an opportunity for children all over the region to submit a variety of crafts and artwork for the art competition while local artists judge the entries.

We are thrilled to announce that they not only participated but also secured impressive placements, bringing home a total of 28 ribbon awards in multiple categories. Out of these awards, our talented scholars earned 6 first-place ribbons, including a group project award, and an impressive 20 second-place ribbons. 


Congratulations to the top elementary and middle school scholars who competed in the Thomas Jefferson Speech and Debate Invitational for Grades 3-8. It's wonderful to see 100 scholars from our district taking part!

Nautilus K-8 received the Top School Award with 8 awards, and Evelyn was recognized as the top elementary presenter, earning two superior awards. Sacajawea Middle School received the Top Middle School Award with 6 awards, and Versabeh was awarded as the top middle school presenter, also earning two superior awards.

Speech and Debate 2024

Congratulations to Decatur High School scholar, Ka’Miya Clark, for her documentary’s acceptance into the National Film Festival for Talented Youth in Seattle for the second consecutive year! NFFTY is a program that supports and connects talented young filmmakers worldwide and is the largest film festival for emerging directors.

This year, Ka’Miya participated in the “Filmmaker” category, a step up from last year’s “Student Filmmaker” category and competed against a broader group including undergraduate and graduate university students around the globe. 

Ka’Miya has received multiple scholarships and will be attending Cal State Northridge next year to study film. 


Congratulations to Grace Thykkuttathil from Decatur High School, for being named to the All-Washington Academic Team!

This prestigious award honors students from Washington's 34 community and technical colleges as the finest higher education students in the state. Grace has been honored for their outstanding academic achievements and their dedication to creating safe, supportive, and positive environments both at school and in the community.

Grace attends Highline College through the Running Start program and has been awarded $500 in recognition of this achievement.

Congratulations to our Thomas Jefferson High School math team scholars for their outstanding performance at the 2024 Mu Alpha Theta State Math Contest and placing first through third in individual categories.

Our scholars excelled in a variety of categories and divisions including Circles & Triangles, Sequences, Equations, Integration, Conics, Trigonometry, Mental Math, and the Gemini 2-member team.

Special recognition goes to Nash Heo, Thomas Huynh, and Sanchit Sharma for qualifying for the Washington State Math Council State Championships in Ellensburg. Nash emerged as the State Champion in Math Knowdown with a perfect score, while Thomas, Nash, and Sanchit secured 2nd place in the Team Topical round, missing 1st place by just 1 point.

Furthermore, Sanchit also competed in the 2024 Washington State High School Math Championships, earning placements in various categories, and successfully qualified for the US National Championship in St. Louis, MO.

Congratulations to our scholar athletes from all four of our comprehensive high schools for signing their National Letter of Intent (NLI) to continue their education and athletic pursuit in college.

The signing of their NLI is the culmination of all the hard work they have put towards athletics, academics, and recruiting.
