During DiscoverU Week, October 7-11, 2024, all scholars in grades PreK-12 will participate in activities to explore college and career pathways available in our region. Each day, schools will lead activities aligned with the daily theme.
The theme for Wednesday, October 9, 2024, is Classroom to Career. Students learn how what they learn in class connects to the real world and can be applied to future careers.

The theme for Thursday, October 10, 2024, is College Gear Day. Students participate in college-going culture by sporting their school gear or favorite college. Students also learn about college options and how to prepare for college.

The theme for Friday, October 11, 2024, is Flash Forward Friday. Students are encouraged to think about the future. Some activities may include vision boards, writing letters to their future selves, and more!
*Please note, there is no school on Friday due to professional development. Schools will incorporate this theme throughout the week.

Middle and high school scholars and families, join us at the Life After High School College and Career Fair on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Federal Way High School!
Whether your college and career plans aren’t yet set for after high school or you have an idea of your next step and want to carve out a plan to make it a reality, Life After High School is where you should be!
At the annual event, middle and high school scholars can connect with FWPS College and Career Specialists, post-secondary representatives, and like-minded scholars eager to put their hopes into action to reach their goals. This event has helped thousands of FWPS scholars explore options and identify their next steps post-high school graduation.
It’s never too early to start planning for your future! Start researching your options now to have a clear path after high school.
- Visit various booths featuring 2- and 4-year colleges and universities, military academies, apprenticeships, and technical and trade schools
- Participate in various workshop
- Listen to panel discussions
- Complete the High School and Beyond Plan and determine which classes and tasks to complete to be a competitive graduate for college and career opportunities
